The Concept of Prepaid Credit Cards Explained
Over the last few years prepaid credit cards have become massively popular. In large this is because the internet has pretty much made it a requirement to have a credit card. For the many people who are not able to get a regular credit card this is a solution to the problem.
The concept of prepaid credit cards is pretty easy to explain, they are designed primarily for people who can't get (due to bad credit scores or other
reasons) or don't want to have a regular credit card. In the modern world it is hard to live without a credit card, you need them for online
purchases for example. The problem is that there are millions of people who can't get a credit card because of debt issues. In order to
address the problem companies started offering them prepaid cards. These are cards that don't
require credit but can be used in most places where credit cards are necessary.
To get a prepaid credit card you simply have to go to one of the many places that offer them and buy one. They are sold in many places so they should be easy to find. When you get the card there will be a small initial fee, this is because there is no interest on the card. Once you have the card you load on the amount of money that you want to spend. Every time that you use your card this amount will be deducted from your account. When you run out of money you simply put more onto the card.
While prepaid credit cards were initially created for people who have credit issues many people are starting to use them even if they can get a regular credit card. The main reason for this is that by not borrowing money they are able to avoid the risk that they will get themselves into debt trouble. People are also starting to find that prepaid credit cards are cheaper to use than regular credit cards because of the high interest rates that are charged by credit card companies. As a result there has been a huge increase in the number of people using prepaid cards.
While prepaid credit cards are becoming very popular you do have to keep in mind that they are not a replacement for regular credit cards. They can be a huge help if you can't get a regular credit card but if you can get one you should, even if you never use it. The reason is that there are times that you will need to have a proper credit card, booking a hotel room for example. The other reason is that prepaid credit cards don't affect your credit rating. This is good in the sense that it will keep you out of trouble but bad because you do need to take steps to improve your credit.
